Dear Students,
Welcome to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, one of the most established faculties at our 115-year-old university.
Our Faculty, which is one of the cornerstones of our country, is home to a well-trained and qualified faculty, as well as industry and R&D-Ge organizations, and by facilitating collaboration opportunities; the fact that our graduates hold competent and influential positions in both the private and public sectors; and the appeal of the professional fields in which we provide education—all of these factors make our Faculty the preferred choice for successful students.
I would like to share some general information about our Faculty with you;
- Our Faculty consists of the Departments of Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering.
- We have a total of five programs: in Industrial Engineering, there are both 30% English and 100% English tracks; in Mechanical Engineering, there is a 30% English track; and in Mechatronics Engineering, there are both 30% English and 100% English tracks.
- Our department offers education at our university’s Yıldız Campus. The English Preparatory Program is held at the Davutpaşa Campus.
- Based on minimum admission scores, Industrial Engineering ranks 4th among state universities, Mechanical Engineering ranks 5th, and Mechatronics Engineering ranks 1st. The minimum admission rank for our faculty is 21,993.
- Our faculty has a total of 5,200 students, comprising 3,500 undergraduate and 1,700 graduate students. Nearly 600 of our students are international students.
Our faculty has a total of 179 faculty members: 43 in Industrial Engineering, 103 in Mechanical Engineering, and 33 in Mechatronics Engineering. Our faculty consists of 52 professors, 39 associate professors, 16 assistant professors, 11 lecturers, 60 research assistants, and 1 engineer.
- All of our departments are accredited under the MÜDEK Accreditation Program, ensuring that our students’ diplomas are recognized in 38 countries, including Europe, the United States, and Australia.
- The most significant outcomes of our faculty include: working in units requiring education in Industrial, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering within the national and/or international private sector and/or public sector; identifying problems in their work environment and developing projects to generate solutions; and, in the public and/or private sector, participating in R&D and product development projects, creating new business opportunities through an entrepreneurial approach, and contributing to industrial development by conducting research in priority areas, as well as conducting scientific research at national and/or international research institutions and centers.
- In the 2024 academic year, to ensure our undergraduate program meets MÜDEK and Bologna standards, in addition to increasing the proportion of required basic science courses, laboratory and practical courses to ensure compliance with MÜDEK and Bologna standards, and our curriculum is continuously updated in line with technological advancements to support the theoretical and practical development of our graduates.
Our faculty is one of the university’s faculties that sends the most students abroad through the ERASMUS program and has the most international partnerships.
